Here's a tip ... if you're ever on your way to Texas (or anywhere in the south for that matter), be aware that watching Easy Rider during your travels will not exactly fill you with anticipation for your arrival.
How can a band that produces gimmicky shlock like "Stacy's Mom" bust out with a heartfelt country-tinged indie pop song worthy of the Pernice Brothers? Fountains of Wayne get a lot of critical praise from non-mainstream circles so perhaps i'm missing something. Although the fact that i discovered "Valley Winter Song" in an L.L. Bean commercial may be supporting my initial suspicions.

One song i don't feel ashamed to be loving at the moment is Bent's "Exercise 4", from their 2004 album Ariels. They've got a knack for producing fiercely emotional instrumental electronic compositions, echoing of dance music but with much more complexity and profundity.
