I had one of those "you're past it, Ted" moments yesterday evening. On the way to pick up Veronica yesterday to have dinner with our friend Lucy, i was driving up the 101 listening to Live 105. Madden was djing, not someone i'm particularly enamored of but he generally has good taste (he does "5 minutes of Radiohead" every show so he can't be all bad). He starts talking about how he saw one of the top five shows of the year last night. I'm thinking, "Really? I don't remember a good show happening last night". He goes on to say they're a band from Canada. "Uh oh. What the hell did i miss?" It's a huge collective of between 10 and 15 people. "Oh shit." Broken Social Scene played at the Grand Ballroom. "F@#$!" I had no clue. One of my favorite bands, and i'm oblivious. Let's all say it together: "you're past it, Ted". | |

| caught something on the news last night about Honda already doing some recall on the new Civic's because of some faulty accelerator pedal. They didn't say if it included the Hybrid on not, I’m sure you can find something on it on the web - thought worth mentioning as it echoed your dads earlier warning on the new model cars.... | |

| It could also explain why it's taking them so damn long to fill my order, as the report i read said the vast majority of recalled vehicles had not yet been sold. Argument for getting a Prius, perhaps. | |

| actually, being that i now work next to a toyota dealer, and we handle all their loaner cars, the had a recent massive prius recall, and the parts are now on backorder, so peoples priii? priusi? priuses? are going to be in the shop for weeks. | |

| A quick web search tells me the Prius recall is a software issue, effective for 2004 and 2005 models. Hopefully it's already been fixed in the 2006's. I still think the Prius is probably a safer bet given it's the ... 3rd? 4th? ... iteration of the same design, whereas the Civic is a complete redesign this year. Aw hell. | |
