So the old PC finally kicked the bucket. First the monitor died in the middle of a virus cleaning. After purchasing a used monitor and finishing the virus sweep, the computer's tendency to crash early and often continued. So after playing with the hardware and reinstalling Windows for the umpteenth time, the computer crashed in the middle of the installation. Upon restarting, the video got all screwy as soon as Windows started. That was it. Time of death: 10:30pm, about two weeks ago.
So we decided to buy into Apple's propaganda and get a Mac. I swear, the guy at the "genius bar" at the Apple store just knew I was a PC user. Despite that bad karma, our shiny new eMac is sitting on the desk, as yet uninstalled. Also sitting uninstalled next to it is the 128 MB memory upgrade and a cute little iPod. So many new toys for Veronica. She deserves it, she just had surgery on Friday. Months of abdominal pain were finally addressed in the emergency room a week ago. The diagnosis: gall stones. So she went in and got it removed.
So all is well once again with the expatriate SF crew.
